Gervais is, of course, anything but a conservative Christian right winger. But in crazy town even the liberals are becoming disgusted; the push back is growing.. It's a nice change of pace to see a comic embracing the radical truth telling role in the belly of the beast.
 
I think this is deliberately allowed, and he's not at all seriously thinking any of this but has carefully scripted this for effect. The plebs are starting to get restless, so let them think their concerns are being heard, but go on just the same. Also, probably nobody watches it anyway and they're just trying to get ratings. But it is amusing to watch.
 
Saw that yesterday. There were a couple priceless quotes!!

This could be true. If so, they must be getting very desperate. It's a fighting withdrawal move. On the one hand, it could relieve some pressure/indignation in the populous. On the other hand, it could further spread/normalize the horrible truth, building further support for actually doing something substantive about it.

But we shouldn't think that just because he spoke truth to them that it was deliberate strategy by the powers that be. There could be a rift in Hollywood (this is put on by the foreign press after all). And comics have historically had an ability to speak truth to power; even to absolute tyrants who weld much more effective and absolute power than Hollywood.

Like political speeches, I'm sure everyone in the room got a copy and knew exactly what was going to go on. No surprises there.

But it was amusing.

Yes, when she got the award she gave this long winded political statement supporting abortion and saying she was only able to get where she was because she was able to murder her first child in the womb; or something to that effect. Adulation is implicit in that, the crowd cheers these little speeches, they get praise on social media, and more acting gigs. But the purpose was as much political as it was about virtue signalling.
 
Something to keep in mind about the affect of this...He called them all pedophiles to their faces. While the realization of Pedowood has been around a few years now in conspiracy circles it hasn't really reached into mainstream consciousness how rotten the whole thing is. Many of the biggest names there have been openly implicated in child rape going back decades.

What was once an open secret is now fully in the open.
