I don’t disagree. But that’s something that’s encouraged of the poor manipulated saps on the ground. If the leadership thought that, you’d have seen this war carried out differently. They’d still be fighting and charging towards Israel in a caravan.

They actually are doing exactly that in insisting on pursuing nuclear bombs at the cost of their own lives. They aren’t willing to drop that goal to save themselves.
They could just lie, give up the enriched uranium and then proceed to rebuild that program, but they believe that their god will come through the chaos.
Or, they could view getting a nuclear weapon at all costs as the North Koreans did. It’s instant respect and deterrence. The Chicoms and North KoreaComms only have a secular religion.
It doesn’t seem disrespectful to not accept that they believe what they say that they believe?
That is a good stand to apply to a 12 year old boy. Refusing his request to be castrated because he thinks that he is a girl.
But these are grown men whose countries military, including most of their previous leaders, has been bombed to smithereens. They are facing another round where the stated objectives will be the bridges and their electrical systems, but their faith is so strongly planted in their ideology that they will accept annihilation on their quest to annihilate Israel. And embrace that annihilation as victory.
There is nothing you could do to make me think that was faked short of Donald Trump telling me himself, in person.
That about sums up the mentality of those hoping for the 72 virgins in their after-life.
Why did the Japanese have kamikaze pilots?
Why did some continue to fight in the jungles well beyond the end of the war (one still thinking and hiding on an island until I believe the 1970s)?

I’m going to give up now.
My point is that it doesn’t require a belief in a deity to hold to suicidal tactics and seemingly irrational actions in defense of a cause or national pride, unless you count defense of the Japanese emperor as a deity.
I think they are comparable.
The emperor himself knew he wasn’t deity, yet he stood by as men went off to fight a war in his name.
Raisin’ Caine himself said that war is politics by any other means. That’s usually what it ends up being.
I don’t doubt that others in their system (some of the mullah) are true believers. I just think that the majority of the leadership is doing and saying all of this for political reasons, not religious.
It is only my opinion. I haven’t interviewed or psychoanalyzed them. I’m just referring to history.
