Greetings from the south!

I don’t think so! Is there something I must do to enable DMs?
Basically, you just have to show the algorithm that you are a real person. After so many replies and what not you will have that option. Maybe reach out to indigenous poliginist through his email, and he can send it to you? I'd rather not post my personal email publicly. It's just a PDF document where I try to concise the comprehensively analyze the issue of polygyny within scripture. It's not anything that hasn't been done before, but it has helped me organize my thoughts/ scriptures on the matter.

Got it!! I feel the same regarding email right now and can reach out when my DMs are enabled:)

I believe that this is all about Solomon, not some rando shepherder.

Solomon is her beloved.
  • Solomon is named in 1:5, 3:7–11, and 8:11–12.
  • The king's chambers are mentioned in 1:4.
  • The royal wedding procession in chapter 3 explicitly identifies Solomon.

Just because some claim that it is about a sheepherder, don't believe it. A man as a sheepherder is never introduced into the story.

I am open to opposing scriptural evidence....

Solomon didn't feed lifestock in 2:16

I don’t know that they are - would there be anything I need to do on my end? I am still trying to even figure out how to navigate this platform! Ha! But I would also love to connect specifically with women as well to understand that journey.

Nothing to do in your end. Julie enabled my DMs after I had been here a short while. You'll probably hear from one of them soon.

The verse does not say "his flock".

Sng 2:16 My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.

"his flock" is inserted text that interpreters added.
People don't eat normally in nature. Besides, look at verb in translation. People eat, animals feed.

Nobody says "I have feeded two biscuits this morning". So there must be some animals.

Your putting the English translation as the literal and applying modern grammar. The translators have a tough task. You should see the underlying Hebrew. I included the Strongs numbers in there in case you want to look them up.

Sng 6:3 אני H589 לדודי H1730 ודודי H1730 לי הרעה H7462 בשׁושׁנים׃ H7799

My sisterwife feels the benefits for single moms are not talked about enough. It is a viable option for some, and probably a terrible idea for others. The social pressure from other believers is maybe the worst thing. Some accept it.
After looking at this issue for probably 25 years, and reading articles for and against, I can honestly say if there was as little scriptural support for polygyny as there is on the opposing side I would never have been for it. Most of the opposition comes from people trying to claim that Jesus redefined marriage when He quoted Genesis. That is the argument that the pope used in 1545 to "forbid marriage" and impose excommunication on anyone who even claimed it was lawful according to scripture for a man to have 2 wives. Jesus knew that the Law forbid adding or diminishing from the Torah, do did Paul. Neither of them would have been approved by Berean people if they had done that. Jesus literally couldn't be sinless and violate that instruction either. Jesus actually taught that "Whoever breaks the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But Whoever KEEPS them and teaches others to do so will be called great." He was the word of our changless God made flesh, why would He need to change anything?
I hope you find the answers and direction you are looking for.

Yes! This was reaffirming to me however as I have been still seeking and praying, I have wondered how that is able to be translated today as this was in the context of maidservants and slavery. Since this is not a current cultural context, I have become leery of using that as a current affirmation. However I would love to understand more how that can be applied universally.
Universally if you look at it as a command for someone who would have been considered lower status and there being basic minimum requirements for her as a wife how much more so for someone who was a higher status/covenanted wife.

To my thinking it also established back then the concept Paul was discussing when he wrote that husbands and wives are not to defraud one another without consent, and also they they do not have authority over their own body (to refuse) because their partner has a claim....and each has a duty to each other. I saw someone claiming a woman having authority over a husband's body was a new thing in the New Testament. I don't see it as such. The Law was the authority that required he be intimate with his wife then, the same Law is the authority now. God tells us what is right....because as His bondservants and creation we don't really have rights...as much as obligations to live by His instructions.

Yes, the social pressure and general expectation of following government assistance will simply not be enough. I was taught (and believe) that God will always provide - is this a way that God has decided to provide and allow us to live abundantly? My child’s father would also not be okay with that arrangement, despite his infidelity in our relationship. The whole legal side of this will be complicated for me as well, but it’s the least of my worries. While this arrangement would be incredibly difficult for me, as I am working on myself in general, I am confident I can be a healthy partner in that.

This is where I am currently struggling. I have also looked at “cleave” and not convinced it’s exclusive (as in you can only cleave to one person). I also think about the imagery of his covenant- one with Israel and then with Judah. I could be wrong in my line of reasoning though.

One question i have is eating pork - it began to be permissible in Mark 7:19 when he declared all foods clean. How is this considered not to change his law?
I hope you find the answers and direction you are looking for.
Thank you <3

There were ALL kinds of animals in the sheet. There were cows and sheep and goats too. Peter had subscribed to the belief of the day that said a sheep raised too close to a pig was "common" and so them tumbling into one another would have "defiled" the clean animals. This was to help him understand that Cornelius and his household were not to be treated like heathens because YHWH had called and cleansed them. Peter explained the meaning after ministering to Cornelius' family.

Welcome! You have certainly hit the ground running with your introduction. It probably seems a bit overwhelming but there is lots of good recommendations being presented and wisdom from those who have been researching this for many years. I look forward to getting to know you better as you continue your journey to understanding Biblical marriage/polygyny and anything else God has for you to learn.

Psalm 19:7 - The Creator’s instructions (law) is perfect - reviving the soul.

Paul: I love God’s law with all my heart (Romans 7:22), and it’s profitable for correction and rebuke (2 Timothy 3:16).

The Father’s instructions tells us a lot about marriage, and sexual immorality. What’s permitted, and what is not. What’s sin, and what’s an abomination.

A man adding wives is permitted (Exodus 21:10), but a wife adding husbands is not permitted (Leviticus 20:10).

We also receive plenty of commentary directly from the Father in regard to his own commandments. Too many believers put the commentary of men above the commentary of the Creator, which is sad.

For example, we read that Leah credits the Creator for blessing her with a new child, because she found her husband an additional wife. This shows it’s righteous to help other sisters in Christ share a godly husband. Which is what Paul wrote in 1 Cor 7:2 (in the Greek), but it’s been swept under the rug in modern translations:

1 Cor 7:2
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own [heautou – exclusively owned] wife, and let every woman have her own [idios – shared] husband.”

Also, we read in 2 Samuel 12:8 - the Creator tells King David - a man after his own heart - if you wanted more wives I would had given them to you - but why did you sin against me by breaking Leviticus 20:10?

So not only do we see that the Perfect Law of Liberty allows it, but we also have positive commentary from the Father regarding it.

Hebrews 13:8 tells us that God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow.

If you believe in the NT - then you must believe in the righteousness of biblical marriage. Some people can’t accept what the word of God truly says regarding biblical marriage, because they may still have the old wine skins. So the new wine is being rejected. New wine calls for new wine skins - as Jesus said - you must be reborn.

Jesus Christ - Luke 16:17 - It’s easier for heaven and earth to pass than the smallest iota to pass from the law.

That concludes that biblical polygyny will remain righteous in the eyes of God as long as earth is still standing.
