Exploring the beautiful glory of a polygynous life

We have a humble request of all of you experienced husbands, wives, fathers, mothers out there....Although we are new to the forum, I have not seen a thread that quite explores this topic. I'd love to explore the real life experience of the beautiful glory of God's perfect design for a polygynous marriage and family. We are not a polygynous marriage or family yet but open to it so we'd love to hear from you all that have experience. The richness of it. The glory of it. The beauty of it. The blessings of it. The strength in it. The protection of it. We are not naive that we are all sinners and so we bring sin to the table and that problems do arise, conflicts, tension, etc. We are aware of those and have heard and seen those in the threads and posts here as well as other places. As sinners, we tend to focus on the negative, despite Paul's admonition to the opposite (Philippians 4:8), so I would love to start this thread with a focus on the positive, even though we all know there are negatives involved. The good things, the excellent things, the praiseworthy things, the beautiful things...I do believe God wants us to hold a vision for His design to build towards His glory, to be excited about it, to be in awe of it, to look to it with joy....that is our prime directive if you will from the beginning in Genesis 1/2, Psalm 8, Habakkuk 2, etc....I believe that is done through the greatest application of the Gospel that we can ever have, the building of healthy, beautiful, joyful marriages and families on God's perfect design that live out and are a living breathing walking talking manifestation of the Gospel in this dark broken world. I'd love to see this thread become an encapsulation of the vision, dream, spirit, and beauty of what Biblical marriages and families truly are, in all your experiences. Thank you for indulging our request!

For example, how many of you who now have plural marriages have experienced an enrichment and deepening of intimacy after bringing in a second wife or more? Some might think it could be fraught with problems and sharing a husband seems to be a danger to intimacy, etc. but I see how it can actually improve it if done well, done Biblically, and when the man really steps up, steps in, and loves and ministers to his wives the way he is called to by God. Any experiences of changes in intimacy within your plural marriages? We would love to hear your stories!

The ironic reality is that most of our practicing families are too busy to engage here as often as the rest of us would like. There are a few that may be able to chime in. This is a question that gets asked a lot.

The best place to get answers is to attend an in person gathering. You will meet and observe actually plural families and almost always be a little disappointed. They’re distressingly normal. Even their struggles are fairly normal, albeit more complex and intense.

Thanks for the perspective. That makes sense. I was getting a sense there was a much smaller number that actually are active on here.

My reality is that the enemy hates me and hates my family.
He is at war with us.
Blessings that I experience are every small victory that I accomplish against him.

Yes, totally agree, Steve. Especially after the enemy has had a hand in corrupting the church regarding Biblical marriage for almost 2,000 years, Satan definitely is against us.

What they said!

When our daughter married and her husband's family came out her mom in law to be a sis in law to be didn't know how they would feel about the other wife, her son, and the new baby daughter that were added since we had met them previously. They were surprised at how "normal" it seemed.
Now that young sister in-law is also MY daughter in-law and we have another grandchild on the way!

I wasn't raised with the normal aversion to polygyny. My parents believed it was moral.
I have seen many blessings already brought to us through the wonderful other lady that loves my/our husband. Of course I count her children among those blessings, but there have been other things. I just appreciate her. She is very easy to be around. Helpful, smart, she is a good cook, a good housekeeper, helps the husband with the business. In short she is a wonderful wife and mom. I cant hear her laugh without smiling.

I could say much more, but it is late and I am fighting a cold.
