Hello everyone, we've been checking the board out for a few weeks and decided to sign up. I am very impressed by the civility and competence in the postings on this board. The topics covered are pretty personal and emotional, but we've really enjoyed the candor that folks have used in caring and sharing.
I don't know if poly will ever be right for my family, but we absolutely agree that the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. I was raised as a PK, my wife was raised as both Catholic and Baptist, while attending a jewish school... We're pretty bohemian in our approach to life. We've got my 3 kids at home plus her 3 younger siblings that we are raising. We've looked at each other many times and smiled, sharing an unspoken (in the presence of others) thought that another person to help share the load would be welcome.
I do have a question, though; I am surgically sterile, after 3 I decided no mas. My question is this, how many sister wives joined a family, especially a younger family, with the express interest of having children? Are there many SW out there who joined a family more for the companionship and friendship aspect than for reproductive reasons? Also, any SW with previous children that joined a family to provide a good loving family for the kids? These are questions my wife and I have had.
Thanks for the forum, the insights and honesty! God Bless

Welcome!

I think you'll find a diversity of answers to your questions.

Some from what I have seen do join a family with prior children. Some join a family for the companionship.

We look forward to getting to know you and seeing all that God is going to do with you as you walk with him.

I remember watching a video on YouTube where a woman talked about joining a family after her monogamous husband had died. She was past the age of having children and was very happy to be a part of that family and had very good things to say about their family. While most would consider an additional wife to expand their family there is nothing wrong with adding a wife to expand your family without the intent of adding more children.

john, welcome

the plumbing can be reconnected for a mere 8 grand :D . i was back in the truck the next day.

Welcome,

To answer your question about a SW entering a family strictly with adding more children I can say that I have read of such things. However, a woman is more than an ability to bear children. I have no children of my own as of yet. I am an SW and My Hubby and FW have two wonderful children and I would not trade them for anything in the world. I love them as if they were my own children and I would do anything I could to protect and keep them safe.

Hello Kacy, we're in Westfield, just north of Carmel. Nice to see a like-minded family so close!
@Liz, thanks for the input. Its one of the things we're kind of worried about, not wanting to disappoint by not being able to reproduce any more kids. 6 teens in the house is enough! ;)
@Steve, I had my surgery done 12 years ago, complete with a cauterization. We've been advised that the chances of reversal are very low...

If anyone else wants to share, feel free, especially sister wives that either brought children from a previous relationship with them, or became a SW knowing that there wouldn't be any more kids...

God bless!

it was about 28yrs for me, folded back, tied, and buried in the muscle. of course the more expensive docs are the most awsome :D
but i am not saying that it is the only way to go. we each must be led of the Lord in the direction that he would have us take.

I married in the hopes of having another baby. My hubby had a reversal of said procedure and had another baby afterwards with 1st wife-their 9th! Yay! But so far none for me :( I have 2 children already and I definitely wanted a big family that my kids could share in! It is a very big plus to have a dad like him to count on. He is not super dad or anything he just loves my kids as much as his own and would even legally adopt them if their bio dad gave them up (which he wouldn't). My hubby wants babies with me as much as I do with him and we are working on it diligently! My kids-even my daughter-who was not keen on a new family has been won over by his caring for them and respectful non judgment of bio dad! So that's it for me. Anyone who will pray for my baby project PLEASE do it. I am enjoying mine and first wife's already born ones till then.
