i started my journey of studying polygyny, on a serious basis, about 4-5 months ago. Before that, I had skimmed through articles from time to time. I was raised SBC and was taught plural marriage was a sin. But I always wondered as old as God is, and knowing God doesn’t change, why did he change 2,000 years ago about something He had ok with. My studies showed me God is a rock and he didn’t change. How reassuring that is. I studied Stivers, Luck, Shipley among others. I have noticed my faith getting stronger knowing God really is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
I spent 12 years in the Middle East, 3 years workingbon F-15’s in Saudi Arabia, 5 1/2 years in Iraq and 3 1/2 years in Afghanistan. While in Baghdad I was honored with leading worship at the US Embassey in Baghdad for 2 years. The military are a great bunch of guys and girls to work with.
I’m married to a great lady. Smarter than me, but don’t ever tell her I said that. I’ll never live it down. She will have her doctorate in less than two months. I’m really proud of her.
I still lead worship and I guess I always will. My wife sings with me. She can have a sweet voice or can have a little bit of a rockers voice.
I would enjoy getting to know others that have similar views. I’ve only told a few people about my belief in plural marriage. And yes, I got that look. But, I got that same look when I told them I got a job in Saudi Arabia. I just remembered, a Saudi friend told me was marrying his second wife. I asked him what happened to his first wife. He told me nothing, he was just going to marry another wife. That was my first experience knowing someone going into a plural marriage.
