I really am not sure how to introduce myself. But I will try to give you an idea of who I am. I am a Lutheran and found this forum while researching biblical marriage. I started researching biblical marriage after doing a study of Martin Luthers Writings with my wife. While it wasn't the fact that Luther preformed a bigamous wedding that convinced me to start this study but his writing on church councils that did. I can post a link if anyone wants to read it but it's long and doesn't mention polygamy until part 2. That study brought me here and I began spending a lot of time here using the resources and information that's been posted. It's so valuable. I felt like I had to become a member. Oh this study has lasted a couple of years now. My wife and I both believe in biblical multiple marriage but we're not seeking anyone. Just gave it to God. We live in Ontario and have talked to our close friends and some elders in our church and find most people agree. I hope this helps you understand me a little bit.

Welcome! Luther’s writings on the subject have been a powerful argument for many of us!
Amen. Luther wasn't perfect, but he did advance several important theological conversations.

Welcome, Booyah, from a former Lutheran!

Welcome! Thanks for sharing your journey to us. May you continue to find good things here. I also hope your wife will make a membership so we can hear from her. We have a casual ladies chat every Monday if she is ever interested in joining in. It starts at 7:30 EST and the directions are at the top of the Ladies Only thread.

Greetings and shalom. Thanks for the intro. Since you started with a biblical foundation to arrive here, I'm sure you'll fit in well and enjoy the interaction on the threads.

Welcome!

Welcome! I also found Luther helpful on this issue. I also really appreciate the people and resources here on this site.

I mentioned it to my wife but she wasn't sure if it was right for her. But thanks for the invitation.

Shalom and welcome.

Here is the link it's a long writing. You may want to skip some and go down to part 2. It's near the bottom. To me this showed the twisting of God's word to justify celibacy in the priests. Done slightly differently than it is today.

Welcome! Wow, that is amazing your church isn't fighting you!

Everyone that agrees does so quietly and all have different thoughts on why no one practices it now. But one older fella told me flat "nothing wrong with it, my uncle had two wives, it just wasn't God's plan for me". But I am sure if I talked to the pastor about it there would be plenty of push back.
