New and very anxious

Hello everyone. I'm a wife from down south.

Recently, I wanted to get serious about my relationship with God and started reading through the bible. God gave me such a desire to know His word. However, it seemed like I was reading a book that I had never read at all before!

Things jumped out at me that I was not happy about--like plural marriage. The thoughts plagued me. I cried for days and was anxious and fretful. My husband told me to just keep praying and that maybe God was trying to tell me something. So I kept seeking the Lord and reading. What I was reading made me confused...Jesus teaching a parable about 10 virgins--one groom. David's life, Solomon's life....It seemed as though plural marriage was on every page I turned.

I wasn't seeking any information on this topic AT ALL! I told God that I wanted to know who He was and what he wanted for my life. This is what he has shown me...that I am to share my husband. While I do not feel right going into details, the Lord has shown me some very specific things about what kind of life we are going to have. God's leading in my husband's heart has confirmed these things. I am scared to death. This is the opposite of what I have envisioned for my life, but I want God's will so badly. What He has shown me has truly shaken me to the core of my being. It goes against every thing that I have been taught and what I believed to be true.

I have no idea where to go from here and I am very scared and anxious.
With heartfelt sincerity,

Well praise the Lord for your new love of the Word.

As for some of the other things, your nervousness, etc. there will be Godly ladies who you can become friends with that can be an aid to you in your love to your husband and Christ.

My only suggestion is that your husband and you, if new to the idea, walk slowly and with some other spiritual leaders who can provide for you some wisdom along the new path. If you both need anything and would rather discuss it privately feel free to contact the staff here:

SeekingGrace,
Hello, I am also a wife who (grudgingly) came to believe that God approves of a man marrying more than one wife. When my husband first brought up plural marriage I couldn't wait to prove him wrong biblically. That didn't work out the way I thought it would! God is funny like that, huh..........Welcome to the group,
AnneMarie

Hi all,
I am a second wife in Texas. I have been on this website since the beginning but have been a little less recently due to a very demanding work and school schedule. I am happy to meet you all and I hope to get to know you all better.

Thanks everyone for the welcome! I am learning a lot reading different threads on the board and look forward to getting to know everyone better. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Welcome! I'm a wife in Oklahoma and We have not YET added another wife to our family but if it is truly God's Will, I'm waiting.

God revealed Plural marriage to me before my hubby but He has worked that way in my marriage allot. This journey has brought about strength in my 12 year marriage and taken some people out of my life. He has revealed so much to us in the last couple of years. Keep search God's word for your guidance! God Bless You!

Looking forward to getting to know you all better!

Seconding all the good advice above. And I'd like to recommend the following thread. The concepts there are a big help to me all the time.

Thanks for the link to that wonderful post, Cecil! I love analogies and "Bring on the popcorn" is probably the best one ever! If there is anything is my life that needs to be thought about in terms of "eternal perspective" it's this current road of plural marriage!

Thank you for the encouragement about seeking the Lord's word! That's what I am clinging to right now. Sometimes I feel like asking the Lord to stop revealing so much! Sometimes it's hard to deal with everything he is seeming to tell me, but I know it's all for a great purpose, so with His grace and understanding I am able to carry on.

My hubby had jokingly brought up plural marriage before over the last couple of years, but it was not something that we seriously studied or thought very much about and certainly didn't think it was something that we would be called by God to practice! Of course, like you said, God is funny like that and showed me differently! Thanks for the welcome, AnneMarie!

Thank you for the kind words. Glad it helped. Here's another that may be useful. It's a newer concept to me, but is helping lots in a rather trying time ...
