I stumbled across this book yesterday and I am quite happy I did. I just ordered a personal copy, but from my review of the digital one linked below, I have been impressed at how thoroughly this book documents the arguments against polygamy. Here is an excerpt from the preface that will illustrate why this could be an intriguing read…

This book began as an expert opinion prepared for the Atty. Gen. of Canada. A group of Fundamentalist Mormons in the town of Bountiful, British Columbia, had challenged the constitutionality of Canada's traditional criminal prohibition on polygamy. The Atty. Gen. sought to uphold the law. Various religious liberty and human rights groups wanted it struck down. My task was to document the Western legal traditions arguments in favor of monogamy and against polygamy, from classical and biblical times until today.
