Very interesting book - check it out (Eros Made Sacred)

That part caught me off-guard, too, P-nta. (And apologies if any were offended.)

The book has been considerably rewritten in the public domain version, but I'll have to do a comparison to know for sure what is different. There's an earlier example that I originally read several years back which, IIRC, put a bit more emphasis on the actual title, showing the connection between monogyny, goddess worship, and matriarchy and feminism.

I hadn't realized when I first posted the link to the "public-domain" version that there were ANY differences with the one that is up on a few other sites.

Some years ago I found a a book (turned out I purchased a set of 3, which I just now re-discovered) by the title "Thelyphthora or A Treatise on Female Ruin". It was written by the Rev. Martin Madan in the 1740's. I am now re-reading Volume I, and since I now have found Volumes II and III I will be reading them too. Can't imagine I had misplaced them all these years ago. But back then I was very busy with my ministries and my businesses. These volumes, as well as other writings by Rev. Madan have been copied and republished by Pastor Don Milton with whom I had some contact perhaps 20 years or so ago. I've lost track of him too but he deserves tons of credit for all he put into reprinting these magnificent books. These are actually copied, so one must get used to reading OLD ENGLISH which is not all that different form ours today except the S's look like f's at the same time that f's look like f's. Also, every quotation will not only have the quotation mark at the beginning of said quote, but at the beginning line of each line of the quote through to the end of it. A little disconcerting. But let me give you a quote here (rewritten in modern English to show you why Rev. Madan was so good.)

Quote From Volume I, pg 8. "As to what shall be advanced on these and on other subjects of the following discourse the author is not wild enough to imagine that, what he has to say will meet with any better reception than THAT BOOK does from whence he takes his authority; or that any person who does not regard the Bible so far as to pay an implicit regard to its sacred dictates, will be in the least persuaded by what will be offered: much less that there will be any alteration in our national system of laws - until, as a nation, we practically adopt as we certainly profess to believe, and as it is evidently true, that God is to make laws for man, and not man for God; or, in other words, that the world is to conform to the Bible, and not the Bible to the world.”

That the few of us conform to God's Word now is an encouragement to all those who believe and wish to practice God's design for families - it is good to know that there are others around us, and even from centuries back that fought the good fight and have left record of their own battles for us to read. Here was a man who wrote most of the hymns in the hymnals of that day, and who wrote on a variety of doctrinal issues - who, when it was discovered that he believed Polygyny was the answer then (and we would agree, as well as now) his name was erased from history as the great and gifted man of God of his time. Lesson to us - don't expect people to accept us with open arms. But, let us too continue the good fight - openly and not with an ounce of shame.

Don is doing well with his young family and has written more books. You can find some of his books on Amazon if you do a search for his name as author.

I started a search recently but realize I probably got sidetracked. I had thought I found nothing. Now that I know he is still there, I will do more researching. I mentioned above I was re-reading one of his re-prints (that of Rev Martin Madan) - the 3 volumes of Thelyphthora, a Treatise on Female Ruin. Just now Finished the Preface. It is even better than I remembered it. It is so very hard to understand how people, the vast majority of Christians can be so very blind to the Scriptures. This is God's Word. That unbelievers don't want to accept it is understandable, but how can people who claim to love the Lord, ignore what God has said? I know too - their minds are blinded by the father of lies. But such a vast number of supposedly true believers?

Since Jesus said there would be many saying Lord, Lord to Him in that day (Matt. 7:21-23), I have no problem believing it will be MANY. Praise God for opening our eye!

Among those saying, "Lord, Lord..." are the Catholics. Frankly I have a very difficult time thinking of them as a part of the actual Universal Church. Here is something I wrote recently, which was a part of a much greater article.

Why would we look to The Church of Rome (the persecuting church) for our doctrine on marriage?

The Roman Catholic Church adopted much more from Rome than ever from the Word of God. The Roman Empire believed in one man/one wife marriage. That is why the Roman Catholic Church took that stand. The Bible NEVER taught that. But the Nation of Rome also believed in divorce. Where a man could marry - have sex with that woman, divorce her and marry another, having sex with her and then divorce, then marry another and have sex with her, divorce and marry another ALL IN THE SAME DAY. Several LEGAL one man/one woman marriages according to Rome in one day. How do I know that?

I recall reading of one of a Roman Emperor’s royal family actually doing that very thing in one day. When that day ended he had 3 new former wives and one new wife to take to bed with him that night. Thankfully at least the Catholic Church did not entertain THAT idea. But some (many?) of the priests had a variety of women that they used from the nunneries. Women who were able to say nothing but to accede to the Priest's demands. The nunneries were nothing but brothels for the popes, bishops and priests. This was the same Church that took away the priest's wives and mandated “celibacy” for the clergy. There are thousands of little boys to attest to the lack of wisdom on that count. Doesn’t sound very celibate, does it. Many priests were very dedicated (though not to Christ, but to their Church) and would never have considered such a thing while others gave in to carnality and used these women (and children) horribly. (For proof of this read the book - “Fifty Years in the Church of Rome” by Chiniquy. An ancient book [reprinted] and very heavy to go through, but you will find there a Priest who truly comes to Jesus Christ - a wonderful book for proofs as well as history)

I would venture to say that at least 90% of supposedly good, Bible Preaching, Bible Teaching, Fundamental, Evangelical, Godly, Dedicated Pastors, Teachers, and Membership would cast me out if I were to preach this as a message from their pulpits. At least 90% - maybe even 99%. And why would they do that? Because they are so steeped in the false doctrine of one man/one woman they cannot see the Scriptures clearly. Their EYES ARE BLINDED. They are False Prophets. They are hypocrites. I’m not saying that - that’s what it says in 1st Timothy 4.
