Poly Family Interviewed

What a beautiful family. I love this. This is what I want in life. I love that the wives are best friends. It seemed a little weird to me that the second wife was so young, but you can see how much love is in that family. We need more people like this to represent this lifestyle. People don't understand how beautiful plural marriage can be because there's so much emphasis on the cases of abuse and neglect.

The husband in the second clip though... wow, what a creep. You can tell there's a lot going on there that was hidden from the camera. I haven't read the rest of the thread yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if that guy is in prison now.

Have you seen the Rockland ranch families? I love the dynamic in one of the families (Enoch and his family), the other one creeps me out, lol. Here's the entire documentary, if you have the time, if not you should be able to just find just Enoch's family:

Thanks. I'll try to watch the whole thing. Was it the guy in the first part of the video who creeped you out? The guy living out in the desert? Yeah, something is just not right with him. I only watched a few minutes, but he was giving me creepy vibes. Unfortunately, it seems like there's a lot of ick among the polygamy community, and it's frustrating because it creates an unfair stigma for the rest of us.

They actually all live in a community out there, I forget the name of the one guy but he has lots of wives, 4 I think? His name my be Abel? I can't check right now, but I think you'll notice it, his poor wives look miserable.

I'm watching some more of it now. I was wrong about the first guy. I think that's the one you liked. I thought it was weird at first, but I think that was just because he was camera shy. It actually does seem like they have a very healthy dynamic.

The second guy you were talking about... that's a bit painful to watch, especially the part where he goes to kiss the pregnant wife goodbye and she moves so he hits her cheek instead. She's absolutely miserable. He's probably not a bad guy, but I think he completely lacks the skills it takes to manage a plural marriage. I think it's a great example of why it's not for everyone.

A couple more things stood out to me. (I really should be asleep right now, but I can't stop watching this.) One is that the kids in the dysfunctional family have poor language skills. You can tell that they're neglected.

The other thing that stood out to me is the contrast between the way the two husbands went about adding their third wives. The hood husband asked for feedback from everyone in the family. When he realized the situation wasn't working for everyone, he took a step back for the sake of the family. He didn't selfishly pursue the new girl just because he was enjoying her company. The crappy husband married a third woman who his first two wives say they wouldn't have even be interested in being friends with if she wasn't in the family. What a moron. The guy is just so incompetent at being a husband and a father, you have to feel bad for him.

One more thing - I loved the way the older wife's face lit up when the husband said he had been missing the time with the family while he was pursuing the third woman. I could see that she genuinely feels loved and she knows that he meant it. Every guy here should be taking notes. This is actually a very informative documentary for anyone pursuing this lifestyle.

I watched a little bit more before I fell asleep. I got to the part where the husband in the unhappy family told his wives he was going to add his brother's two widows to the family.

I think this guy has good intentions. He's trying to do the right thing. He just wants to take care of his brother's family. I think he had a good heart. But man... he's just in way over his head. He doesn't have the skills or resources to take on all of this responsibility. He also seems incredibly passive, which I think is also part of his problem.

He didn't have exercise good judgment when adding new women to the family, so he created disharmony. Then he didn't have the skills to create peace in the house when the women were at each other's throats. This is what being the leader of the family means. It isn't telling people what to do. It means (among other things) having the wisdom and the courage to settle disagreements. This guy is so passive, he's letting life happen to him. The women made peace on their own before he even attempted to address the situation. That's pathetic.
