Tajik women turn to polygamy for survival

I don't like this. It won't result in anything good.

Remember, social stability requires that many men do get something from society. No wife isn't enough.

Only way widespread polygyny isn't socially destabilizating is after war with mass casualties or rising population with customary age gap about decade age between husband and wife.

How does that differ from a mass exodus of men?

Because dead can't return.

It's highly likely men who have left will want to marry women from where did they come. Same with Pakistani man/women in Britain. They marry someone from Pakistan.

This has to hit Russian society (where Takis would migrate to search for work) and also Takis society.

Don't create class of men who have nothing to lose by starting revolution. Same with current Western societies. Ruling class hates "male natives".

Medieval Christian polygamy, sanctioned by the Pope?

This is a helpful comment to point out to those criticising polygyny in church history. Citing the statement by Luther, Melanchthon, and Bucer, to the effect that “the Gospel hath neither recalled nor forbid what was permitted in the law of Moses with respect to marriage,” Elder Pratt quite correctly concluded that the case of Philip of Hesse “proves most conclusively, that those Divines did sincerely believe it to be just as legal and lawful for a Christian to have two wives as to have one only.”
